SAFE & SOUND SERIES- Panther Playbook (POST #1)
We know waiting for updates during an emergency, like last week’s "Lockdown," is incredibly hard. In those critical moments, our TOP priority is securing our students and staff. As a mom myself, hearing from social media there is an emergency can be unnerving, and the waiting for more information feels like HOURS when it is my babies, just like when it is yours. And with having police scanners sharing instantaneously online, it is difficult to know what they are sharing while also staying actively aware of the building needs in the moment (which is the absolute #1 priority for our Panthers).
One thing I share to our students at the beginning of each school year is how they will be treated with the same high level of care, safety, love and respect as my own children. This is because I truly believe ALL children deserve to feel that in their lives, regardless of their background or experiences, and situations like an emergency are a perfect example of where this comes into action. Your children are also mine in the Panther family.
During any emergency. our team secures their safety 1st, then coordinates with first responders to ensure you are provided with accurate, verified, timely information. I would rather make sure it is accurate the 1st time you hear from our team than cause any undue stress or heartache. And we all know how the social media rumor mill and speculation & keyboard warriors can be. Please rest assured that we give all the information we are allowed as soon as we can, which also might mean that the scanner listeners will make some posts first.
Thank you for your patience and trust as we keep our school safe, and providing us the space and time needed to ensure a smooth process in the event something like this occurs at P. Hill.
💙 Ms. Kimberly Priller, Principal

Last week, our Panthers participated in a school-wide fire drill with the Limestone Fire Department as part of our ongoing commitment to keeping our students and staff safe. These drills provide an important opportunity for everyone to practice emergency procedures, follow directions, and know what to do in the event of an actual emergency.
We are proud of how seriously our students and staff approached the drill and appreciate everyone’s cooperation!
Preparedness is another brick in building a safe and successful future—one brick at a time! 🧱🐾

Our junior high scientists have been busy getting hands-on, asking questions, making observations, and putting their science skills to work in the lab! 🥼🧫
There’s nothing better than seeing students learning by doing, exploring, and discovering. We’re off to a great start, and there are plenty more experiments and discoveries ahead! 💡🔍

I am writing to share a brief update regarding the precautionary lockdown at our school earlier today.
Please be assured that at no point were any of our students or staff in danger. The lockdown was initiated purely out of an abundance of caution and was safely lifted within 10 minutes, thanks to the immediate assistance and quick action of the Peoria County Sheriff's Department.
An "all clear" was promptly issued, and our normal school day and daily routines resumed without further incident. The safety of our school community is always our top priority. Thank you for your continued trust and support.

Our Kindergarten and 5th grade students made cards for the residents at Fondulac Nursing Home in East Peoria to celebrate National Senior Citizens Day! 🥰 It was a simple way for our Panthers to show that a little kindness can go a long way! 🐾💌
